If you’re looking for a budget-friendly, unique experience when visiting Asheville, I highly recommend this place. You are close to all the Asheville sites and the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was very quiet- no highway noise or dogs barking. Loved the twinkling lights out front too! It’s a no-frills cabin but that’s what we loved about it. I appreciated all the hooks throughout the cabin for towels and jackets. The pillows and beds were more comfortable than any hotel we’ve stayed in. We stayed in Mountain Dew so the kids got a room and we got a room. This was absolutely perfect and really added to the “mountain” feel of our trip. It was our first time visiting Asheville so I knew we wanted something more special than just a hotel or Air Bnb. The German restaurant on the front of the property was really good.We recently stayed here for 3 nights over Thanksgiving. All the staff we talked to were very nice and polite. If you look at this as camping with a built in bathroom you might like it. It was quaint and cool to stay in a really old log cabin. I think I swore a few times in front of the kids and my husband has a scab on the top of his head still from walking through the bathroom door without hunching over. If you are six feet or above you will hit your head on the interior door frames. Spiders, mid feeding, under the sink added to the creepy feeling. The bathroom was lit so poorly that you couldn't really see exactly how dirty and gross the shower was. Because of this the shower ceiling was soft to the touch. The bathroom was extremely small and the shower sprayed water up as well as down so the entire shower ceiling was soaked and dripping cold water on you the entire shower. The front office was almost always locked with no one available.

The windows were also extremely old and let a lot of noise in. I kept getting up to check if the bathroom window was open because it was SO loud. All night long you could hear trucks zooming by. It's located between a fast moving road with businesses all around and the freeway. It's located in a convenient location but the area was not a nice one. There was a half inch gap between the front door and the wall where the bugs could just walk right in. The lighting was not bright enough but that might have been a good thing or else you would see even more bugs. The bedspreads and spare blankets were dingy, stained, and dirty. If you look at it as a hotel room then it's disgusting. If you look at this place as a little step up from camping then it's fine. Every time I walked into the cabin from being out and about I would walk through spider webs.

The log walls, while charming, have hundreds of hiding spots for bugs and spiders. You need to ask yourself how many huge spiders you want to kill in your bed, how many bugs you want to wake up to crawling all over you, and how many moths and ants and crickets you want to kill in the cabin. It didn't help, it only added a new smell.
